What are the extra black plastic parts shipped with my kayak used for?
Some models of our ruddered kayaks are shipped with these extra parts (see image below) and can be used to lock your sliding foot pedals in place so that they don't move. This is when you intend to NOT use your rudder system and want a firmer foot pedal for better control and fit. If you do intend to use your rudder, then do not install these parts in your slider foot pedals so that the pedals are able to steer the rudder right and left when the rudder is deployed.
Steps to Install:
-
Remove the existing pedal but depressing the back tab of the pedal part and slide it out of the track
- Remove the piece on back of pedal slot as shown in the video below
- Insert the new piece in the slot, slide back in place and depress the tab ass before in step 1 to get it back into slider.
-
On the front side of pedal slider you can now depress the tab to slide the pedal along the track and lock it in place to the desired position for you leg length and best comfort.
