I am having trouble fitting my rubber hatch on my kayak. What do I do?

Sometimes the rubber hatches are a bit difficult to put on the hatch rim.  The fit is tight so that if forms a good seal to prevent water from entering the kayak.
The best way is to:
  1. Start on one side pushing hatch down and running your hand along the rim
  2. Continue to push and apply even pressure working your around the rim to the far side
  3. Make sure the rubber hatch is seated flat against rim as you go.
  4. If this is still giving you trouble, try applying a silicon spray to the hatch rim as a lubricant.
